We test the 3m USB cable for the Stealth Ultra Wireless Controller to see if the extra length improves your gaming setup. Charging speed, build quality, and value compared.

When you invest in a premium controller like the Stealth Ultra Wireless Controller, every accessory matters. The included USB cable gets the job done, but Turtle Beach also offers a longer 3-meter (3m) version designed specifically for this controller. Is it worth the extra cost, or should you stick with the standard cable? In this review, we break down the differences in length, charging performance, build quality, and overall value.

We spent several days testing the 3m cable with the Stealth Ultra Wireless Controller in various gaming setups — from a desk to a living room couch. Here’s what we found.

What’s Different About the 3m Cable?

The most obvious upgrade is length. The standard cable that ships with the Stealth Ultra Wireless Controller measures about 1.5 meters. That’s fine for a desktop setup where your console or PC is right next to you. But if you game on a couch or have a larger desk, that short cable can limit your movement. The 3m version gives you an extra 1.5 meters of reach, letting you sit farther from your console or route the cable around furniture more easily.

Beyond length, the 3m cable shares the same braided nylon exterior and reinforced USB-C connector as the standard cable. It supports the same fast charging speeds — up to 5V/2A — so you won’t lose any charging performance. The cable is also compatible with the Stealth 600 Gen 3 and Stealth 500 headsets via the separately sold USB-A to USB-C charging cable, but here we focus on its use with the Stealth Ultra controller.

  • Braided nylon jacket resists tangles and wear.
  • Reinforced USB-C connector fits snugly in the controller port.
  • Supports up to 5V/2A charging for quick top-ups.

Charging Speed and Performance

We tested the 3m cable against the standard 1.5m cable using a Stealth Ultra Wireless Controller that was completely drained. With a 5V/2A wall adapter, both cables charged the controller from 0% to 100% in approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes — no difference in speed. The longer cable did not introduce any voltage drop or noticeable heat buildup, which is a good sign for long-term durability.

During gameplay, the cable remained flexible and didn’t create drag on the controller. The braided texture also helps prevent the cable from sliding off your lap or desk. If you’re worried about the extra length causing clutter, a simple cable tie or velcro strap can keep the slack organized.

  • Charging time identical to standard cable: ~2h15m.
  • No voltage drop or overheating observed.
  • Flexible braided design reduces tangling.

Build Quality and Durability

Turtle Beach’s 3m cable uses the same braided nylon material found on the standard cable, which is already a step above basic rubber cables. The connector housings are molded plastic with strain relief at both ends. After a week of daily use — plugging and unplugging, coiling and uncoiling — we saw no fraying or loosening. The USB-C tip fits securely in the Stealth Ultra controller’s port without wobble.

One small downside: the cable is slightly stiffer than a standard rubber cable, especially when new. This is common with braided cables and usually loosens over time. If you prefer a very flexible cable, this might take a few days to break in.

  • Braided nylon outer layer resists abrasion.
  • Strain relief at both ends adds longevity.
  • Slightly stiff when new, but loosens with use.

Is the 3m Cable Worth It?

The answer depends on your gaming setup. If you already sit close to your console or PC and the standard cable reaches comfortably, you probably don’t need the upgrade. However, if you often find yourself stretching the cable or wishing for more slack — especially when using the Stealth Ultra Wireless Controller on a couch or from a bed — the 3m cable is a worthwhile investment. It’s also handy for LAN parties or if you share your controller between multiple rooms.

For those who also own a Stealth 600 Gen 3 or Stealth 500 headset, the 3m cable can double as a charging cable for those devices when paired with the appropriate USB-A to USB-C adapter. That adds extra value if you’re already in the Turtle Beach ecosystem.

Stealth 500 Headset
Stealth 500 headset
  • Best for couch gamers or large desks.
  • Useful for multi-room setups or travel.
  • Compatible with Stealth 600 Gen 3 and Stealth 500 with adapter.

If you need extra reach for your Stealth Ultra Wireless Controller and value a durable braided cable, the 3m USB cable is a solid upgrade. It delivers the same fast charging as the standard cable with added flexibility in placement. For a complete charging solution, pair it with the Stealth 600 Gen 3 / Stealth 500 USB-A to USB-C Charging Cable for your headsets.
